Town of Hillsborough Municipal Mandate
Primary Trigger
A sewer lateral inspection and required testing are mandatory upon the transfer of property ownership (Title Transfer) in accordance with the Town of Hillsborough's sewer lateral regulations.
Required Actions
Video inspection and water test are typically required at Point-of-Sale to obtain compliance with the Town of Hillsborough's sewer lateral requirements.
City of San Mateo Municipal Mandate
Primary Trigger
Mandatory upon the sale or transfer of property ownership and for remodeling or construction projects with a building permit valuation exceeding $100,000.
Required Actions
A sewer video inspection is required to evaluate the condition of the sewer lateral. Any defects, including root intrusions, cracks, offsets, separations, or other conditions that do not meet City standards, must be repaired or replaced before sewer lateral compliance can be issued.
City of Millbrae Municipal Mandate
Primary Trigger
Prior to transfer of ownership (close of escrow), property owners must perform a sewer video inspection of their existing sanitary sewer lateral from the building to the City main. The inspection is exempt if the property has an active compliance certificate.
Required Actions
A sewer lateral video inspection must be submitted to the city at point-of-sale.
City of Belmont Municipal Mandate
Primary Trigger
A Sewer Lateral Certificate is required when property improvements total $200,000 or more, or when work results in a change to the property’s water service, such as adding a second water meter or modifying the existing meter size. Not required for point-of-sale.
Required Actions
The sewer inspection video and report must be submitted to and reviewed and certified by the City’s Sewer Division.
